Jack's
Life Story
(interviewed
by Al Thompson)
QUESTION:
Your friends say you have had a remarkable change
in your life.
ANSWER:
I used to drink heavily; my life was filled with
junk, disappointment and mental garbage. Throughout
my years in broadcasting, business dealings, and
singing in night clubs, I was a miserable person.
I dont know how my dear wife put up with
me.
Now I praise God for a new day. I wake up in the
morning and head out into the world with a new
attitude and a new transformed mind.
QUESTION:
How did this change come about?
ANSWER:
My doctor said to me in the hospital, Jack,
if you dont stop drinking you are going
to die. This was the day before I was scheduled
for surgery. He walked out. I was disgusted about
what he had said. After surgery I would wake up
and sit on the edge of my bed and pray, Lord,
not today, dont let me drink anymore.
God answered my prayers. I was driving home from
the Okanagan and on the road near Monte Lake I
heard a voice in my head saying, drive into the
lake and end it
all. However, I had an envelope for a client in
Kamloops. My dad used to say, Finish the
job. I decided to keep driving to Kamloops,
deliver the envelope and finish the job. While
in high school I dated a girl named Annette. A
few years ago she and her husband, Don, moved
to Kamloops. Annette was a Christian when I dated
her and I respected her. I understood where she
was coming from because my mother used to take
me to Sunday School as a child.
Don said to me one day, Jack, when are you
going to accept Christ? I replied I would
do it now if Annette were here. Don said she will
be here in five minutes. I was in my car and I
started to play a song Annette had recorded entitled,
Sweet Anointing. I started to cry;
Jesus was working in me. There was a knock on
the window. I saw Dons head. He climbed
in and in a few minutes Annette climbed in the
back seat. They said, why dont you give
your life to Christ NOW. I said yes and began
praying the sinners prayer, Oh Jesus,
I have sinned and I ask your forgiveness. I ask
you to come into my life as my Lord and Saviour.
At that moment it was like a bucket of warm water
just flowed over me. Ifelt so clean and an instant
inner peace came over me. There was an overwhelming
sense of joy and happiness. I went home and told
my wife, Ann. We went for a drive and cried with
joy. She and my mother had been praying for me
for years. What a joy to hug my wife; everything
in my life was different.
For
once I came home and I wasnt drunk.
Later I told my mother. She said, Its
a miracle Jack accepted Christ. I responded,
Mom, its a miracle that Christ accepted
me.
